Configure Moving Period Phases

Last updated: August 28, 2026

Move-in and move-out periods define when students can arrive and depart from their assigned housing. Configuring these timeframes ensures a structured and organized transition for residents while helping administrators manage occupancy and logistics.

Move-in and move-out periods are required phases in a housing cycle. They must be set after the general page, application phase, and room selection phases have been configured.

Set the Move-in Period

The Move-In Period defines the earliest and latest dates when students can move into their assigned housing. These dates should take into account all student groups that may require early access to housing.

Example: If your institution allows early move-ins for certain groups, your begin date should reflect the earliest possible move-in date. Student-athletes, international students, or early-arrival programs may require housing a few weeks before the standard move-in date for the general student population. Setting this date correctly ensures these students can check in without needing manual exceptions.

Set the Move-Out Period

The Move-Out Period defines the earliest and latest dates when students must vacate their housing assignments. These dates should account for any students who may need to remain on campus past the general move-out deadline.

Example: Your end date should reflect the latest possible move-out date. Student staff, graduating seniors, or students requiring extended stay accommodations may need to remain in housing a few days past the standard move-out date. Setting this correctly ensures these students maintain access without requiring manual extensions.
